Politics, I hear you
cry? "I bet that any money used goes to the Labour Party or some sinister left
wing group", well how wrong you are. Since the 1980's trade Union's have had to
have a separate political fund. This fund is used for the union and the local
branch to campaign on any political issues, to give a few examples of our recent
political campaigning can we remind you of "The Pink Elephant Campaign"
(off-shoring of call centre work) , break up of BT and privatisation of the Post
Office.
Locally we affiliate to all the local Labour parties, and use your money
wisely in promoting the best for members working in the Telecommunications or
allied industries .

Dear Colleagues,
On June the 4th
there are County Council & European elections.
If you are going to
use your vote as a protest vote against the current government,
I would ask you to reconsider for two reasons:
1, In Essex the
ruling Conservative group intend to sell off County Council
Services
(see Labour
manifesto below) and the only way to stop this is to put the
Labour group in control.
2, On the European
front, we have only one labour MEP in the region (Richard Howitt).
He has worked very hard for us in Essex and we need to
keep him. Also the BNP will stand and we must not let this party
in!
So I ask you please
to think carefully before voting and not just to strike a
protest vote. Vote for Essex and a hard working MEP.
