Welcome to The South East Anglia branch of the CWU

Branch Political Page

Politics, I hear you cry? "I bet that any money used goes to the Labour Party or some sinister left wing group", well how wrong you are. Since the 1980's trade Union's have had to have a separate political fund. This fund is used for the union and the local branch to campaign on any political issues, to give a few examples of our recent political campaigning can we remind you of "The Pink Elephant Campaign" (off-shoring of call centre work) , break up of BT and privatisation of the Post Office.

Locally we affiliate to all the local Labour parties, and use your money wisely in promoting the best for members working in the Telecommunications or allied industries .

From Richard Howitt, Euro MP for East Of England

TIME TO REGAIN THE INITIATIVE

Richard says it’s time to take the fight to the Tories, after the mixed results for Labour in May’s local elections.  The next electoral challenge for the party will be European and County Council Elections in 2009.

Richard campaigned with Labour candidates standing for Basildon, Cambridge, Epping Forest, Harlow, Great Yarmouth, Ipswich, Norwich, Stevenage, Thurrock, Waveney and Watford councils and saw first hand the hard work of Labour activists in a difficult year.
