What
is a ULR?
ULRs
There are currently CWU Union Learning Reps (ULRs) in most branches
in the Eastern Region however new reps are always welcomed.
What is a ULR?
ULRS are members who want to be involved with our learning agenda.
Some ULRs simply want to talk to their colleagues and pass on
information about courses being organised or finding out what that
person would like to learn. Some want more responsibility and
become a Lead ULR/Learning Officer or Co-ordinator. Others fall
between the two levels but want to specialise, i.e. dealing with
Skills for Life (SFL) issues, IAG, Community learning etc. How
involved you become is up to you!
What experience is needed?
None!
ULRs are ordinary union members like you! The CWU is keen to attract
people with an interest in learning regardless of whether they are
already union reps or whether they have any educational background.
The union will provide full training.
If you would like to know more about becoming a ULR then please
speak to your branch ULR’s as listed on these learning pages
